Damodar Month is observed during the sacred Kartika period in the Vaishnava calendar. It is especially associated with the worship of Lord Krishna as Damodar.
The name Damodar comes from two Sanskrit words:
Thus, Damodar refers to Lord Krishna, whose belly was bound with a rope by His loving mother, Yashoda.
This pastime reveals a profound spiritual truth: although Lord Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He willingly becomes controlled by the pure love of His devotees.

Damodar Month is the sacred Kartika period dedicated to remembering and worshipping Lord Krishna, especially His childhood form as Damodar.
Krishna is called Damodar because Mother Yashoda bound His belly with a rope during a loving childhood pastime in Gokula.
Devotees traditionally offer ghee lamps, prayers, flowers, and devotional service to Lord Krishna.
Yes. Devotees can offer lamps safely, sing Damodarastakam, chant the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, and read scriptures at home.
The month emphasizes pure devotional love, remembrance of Krishna, and the importance of sincere bhakti.
Thank you for supporting the devotional activities and service initiatives of ISKCON Ranchi.
