ISKCON Ranchi Wishes You a Happy Gopashtami -30 Oct 2025

Gopashtami is one of the most auspicious days in the month of Kartik. On this day, Lord Krishna officially took charge of herding cows, a duty that showed his deep compassion for all living beings. The word “Gopashtami” comes from “Go,” meaning cow, and “Ashtami,” meaning the eighth day of the bright fortnight. Gopashtami is a sacred day dedicated to Lord Krishna and the protection of cows. On this day, devotees honor Krishna as the protector of cows (Gopal) and perform rituals to care for and worship cows, which are considered sacred in Vedic culture. At ISKCON Ranchi, Gopashtami is celebrated with special pujas, abhishekam to cows, prasadam distribution, and devotional programs. You can also participate by offering seva through donations, supporting the festival’s spiritual activities and cow protection initiatives.
